2025 Wildfire Community Preparedness Day Funding

The Living With Fire Program is pleased to offer communities the opportunity to apply for funding to support local wildfire risk reduction projects. Sponsored by the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) and State Farm, the Wildfire Community Preparedness Day (Prep Day) campaign provides grants to communities to help reduce wildfire risk and protect lives and property.

Funding Details

  • Grant Amount: 4 grants available of $2,500 each (one-time, no match required)
  • Application Deadline: April 23, 2025
  • Funding Distribution: On or around the first week of May
  • Project Completion Deadline: September 30, 2025 with a special focus on projects supporting Wildfire Community Preparedness Day (May 3, 2025)

Eligibility Requirements

  • Be able to spend the funds by September 30, 2025
  • Use funds for physical projects that reduce wildfire risk to people and property, such as creating defensible space, clearing brush, conducting community cleanup days, installing fire-resistant landscaping, or improving emergency access routes
  • Must commit to taking photos of the project and submit a brief description of the work completed

  • Submit by April 23, 2025
  • Review Process: Applications will be reviewed competitively. Submission does not guarantee funding.
  • Notification of Award: Selected applicants will be announced on or near April 25, 2025.
